LEVYdance National Vimeo Audition

LEVYdance is looking for four dancers (male and female) to create and perform a new work which will be presented in San Francisco at ODC Theater as part of it's grand reopening the last two weeks of October 2010. Auditions will take place virtually through Vimeo where you can post a video on the LEVYdance group page. Visit www.levydance.org/auditioners.htm for more information.

The first section of the rehearsal process begins July 2010 and will happen virtually through choreographic and writing exercises posted to the LEVYdance Vimeo group. Dancers will record and upload their creative assignments to the group for discussion and expansion. The national cast will meet in San Francisco from September 2010 through October 2010 for final rehearsals and performances. Dancers will be compensated for rehearsals and performance. LEVYdance is proud to announce its performance in the 2010 Tanzmesse International Dance Festival.

The tanzmesse internationale nrw is a biennial contemporary dance marketplace and performance festival showcasing dancers from all corners of the globe, and LEVYdance is proud to represent the United States as a part of the Dance USA delegation.

LEVYdance will be performing Benjamin Levy's work Physics (2008). Physics is a piece for four dancers that uses the human body to investigate natural phenomena including gravity, centrifugal force, velocity and inertia. While in a laboratory-like setting, Levy and his dancers played to defy, challenge, exaggerate and surrender to these natural forces.

LEVYdance Summer Intensive 2010
LEVYdance is happy to announce their 5th annual Summer Intensive, to be held from June 28 to July 2, 2010, 10am-4pm, daily. Each day will begin with technique class focusing on momentum, grounded attack, and isolation of joints. The day will continue with explorations of weight manipulation, falling off balance, performance presence, and professional development. Each participant will have the opportunity to source original movement and discover a personal approach to creation.

LEVYdance takes it to the streets with Dancers Group's ONSITE Series
Intimate Visibility is a collision of new media, dance, and flash mob. Created by LEVYdance and commissioned by Dancers' Group as part of the ONSITE series, Intimate Visibility explores human connection in an age of cyber communication.
